Give your lips what they need to stay healthy and happy. Here are five things your lips will love…

 

Moisture. Lips become very easily dehydrated, even more so than the rest of your skin. For healthy, moist lips, drink an adequate amount of water each day. Some liquids, namely caffeinated and alcoholic drinks, can actually sap the moisture right out of you. Once you have the moisture you need, use a lip balm to seal it into your thirsty lips.

 

Protection. Your lips need shelter from the elements, especially from sun, wind, and cold, dry air. Before you head outside, smear on a lip balm with added sunscreen. Sun overexposure dries out your lips and puts you at heightened risk for lesions that can develop into skin cancer. Some people worry about lip balms becoming addictive, but unless you develop an allergy, there's no known harm in slathering on the stuff.
