



A stress test (or exercise test) is used to check how well the heart performs while under the physical stress of doing exercise, such as walking or running on a treadmill.
Because the heart has to work harder and requires more oxygen during exercise, this test can frequently detect problems, such as heart disease, that might not show up when a person is resting.
